Traditional phone lines will become obsolete from December 2025

Traditional phone lines will no longer be sold from September 2023, and will become obsolete from December 2025. As an IT services provider, we wanted to share that you will need to switch to alternative services to stay connected after that date. This will affect both phone and internet services that run off a PSTN or ISDN line.

EVERYONE will be affected by BT closing The Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) in December 2025, as by then, EVERY phone line in the UK will have moved to a fully digital network that uses Internet Protocol (IP) across a fibre-based service.

  • You may need to upgrade your broadband, as it’s not only voice services that will be affected by the change.

  • Any equipment that uses the PSTN will STOP WORKING, Alarms, Credit Card PDQ machines, door entry systems, CCTV, and so on.

  •  The Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) will also stop working.

Acting now will give you sufficient time to manage the move.

If you have any questions, let us know and we will assist in any way we can.
